What can you say about Steve Nash, NBA point guard, seven time All-Star and two time league MVP‾ Nash has led the league in assists and free-throw percentage at various points in his career and he is also ranked as one of the top players in NBA league history for three-point shooting, free-throw shooting, total assists and assists per game. Well, if you're Owen Wilson, you say: "It's kind of a funny name, isn't it‾ I'm just saying... Steve Nash! It's a little bit, kind of like an action hero. It's just such a cool sounding name. Steve Nash.”
Directors Michael Hamilton and Corey Ogilvie deliver a delightful profile of BC's most famous basketball player in this exceptional doc. We follow the ups and downs of his playing career, sharing the boos as well as the cheers. Of particular interest is the footage surrounding the All-Star game of 2003, within a month of the American invasion of Iraq. Rather than thanking God and promising to give 110%, Nash used his forum to denounce the war and its human cost. "From the start, I spoke out just because I don't want to see the loss of life," says Nash. "People are mistaking anti-war as being unpatriotic. But now that we're in battle, I hope for as many lives to be spared as possible (and) as little violence as possible before a resolution." The most important thing is that we really get to know Nash the player as well as his other personae: entrepreneur, philanthropist, filmmaker and family man.
